I had recently (a few weeks before Purim) opened a new (3ed) Google voice and with in the day of opening it someone in Israel logged in and after a few days it was blocked, so I sent in an appeal and I wrote that this Google voice account is managed by 2 people (assuming that the reason why it was blocked is for having multiple accounts) and they opened it and it’s still working
Wow, lucky! When my account got blocked, just because I simply logged in on a new phone, they didnt answer my appeals (I sent at least 20) for 2 whole years, then randomly I tried again and they unblocked it. Google’s weird what can I say
Yeah I guess so…
Btw I read their terms (after I got blocked) and there is no issue using it outside of the USA
Google voice now requires a “government-issued photo ID that shows your name” to setup a new account, no option to do it with a phone number anymore
At this point our ID’s are no longer something private, I wonder if there’s a limit how much google voice accounts can be registered to one ID unlike phone numbers? R.I.P to all the young bochurim who want to get a google voice number…
Isn’t there an option to use a passport?
Probably is, as long as its a photo ID issued by the government
That has to do with your Google Account, not Google Voice
It’s for Google Voice, new numbers only. They’re doing this to comply with a FCC anti-scammer regulation
Well I am happy that they are finally doing something about it
and when i do
adb shell pm clear com.google.android.apps.googlevoice
i can see all the chats but when i clcik on a chat it says unknown conversation and evething is blank
but i can still send texts from there
Im sure you probably already tried this, but try clearing data/cache in settings/apps/googlevoice. You’ll have to sign in again.
doesnt help
