I’m really afraid that all this is going in the wrong direction.
No, we do NOT want to have to pay a premium for larger groups.
Messaging on kosher phones should not be inferior compared to messaging on smartphones, just because someone wants to make money.
It can be more limited, that’s part of kashrus, but it shouldn’t be ad infested or freemium.
That will give all the TAG and “Big Filter” haters their first big legitimate claim.
Until now, limitations to kosher phones were always because they were treated as dumbphones, sometimes enhanced dumb-ish phones.
No mafia or authority was limiting the phone for any reason other than kashrus.
Whichever limitations the phones had were always because they’re dumb and held to a high standard of kashrus.
If this system does things wrong, it will change that.
People will be able to say that they don’t want a basic phone because they paywall essentials features.
BTW, I don’t have too much info on what they’re doing, and it sounds like a lot of the rumors going around might be only partially true, so I might be wrong about how it’s being done.
