LLMs Compared - Which is better

Yes.

I feel like Anthropic is less likely to dumb down their models to save costs, or in preparation for the release of a new model.

Why?

It’s most definitely happened before, but I’m still team Claude. Love the thing

I’ve got such a good flow going

Resources. In the end of the day, google is one of the largest companies in the world with a much higher budget

The Chinese have been releasing many models that come very close to the leading US models, and they have very limited resources.

First of all remember the Deepseek Freakout? We know they lie about how much resources they use. Additionally, while they don’t really have access to nVidia chips, the Chinese gov. is really pushing development. They have a much bigger access to funds than american models do

Without getting into fancy long term whatever, in my experience coding and vibe coding nothing beats or comes close to gemini pro. (i’m talking about only coding. I basically never use ai for other stuff so wouldn’t know but i imagine we’re all talking about coding)

You tried Claude Opus 4.5?

Or GPT 5.2?

i did. not extensively but yea. I think on benchmarks gemini also beats for coding but i might be wrong.

I assume you’re comparing Gemini Pro with ChatGPT High, and not ChatGPT Instant?

Anyone have any recommendations for a Perplexity alternative?
It’s been completely nerfed.

A few months ago I probably would’ve been willing to pay for a Perplexity Pro subscription once my free student subscription finishes.

Now it’s barely worth using even with a free pro subscription.

Instead of scraping websites for it’s answers, it just uses website excerpts from Google searches, and isn’t even searching in real time, it uses info from cached searches, even when real time info would be relevant.

Google AI Mode Deep Search is the only tool that I’ve used that can compare with Perplexity, but it’s often overkill, taking a very long time searching and processing way too many sources, while a Perplexity search used to be able to pull up whatever info is relevant and give me an answer in max 30 seconds .

Who would’ve believed it, i posted this in r/perplexity_ai, and it got taken down!

Perplexity is ruined, any good alternatives?

Just wanted to say I think I remember saying here that I like gemini. I take it back. It sucks. Both 3 pro and even the new 3.1 pro don’t come anywhere near Claude opus 4.6 extended which I’m using with a free account. I can show many examples but it’s crazy how far they are.

I have currently a free pro account with gemini bit for anything I actually want a good answer I use my Claude free account

I hate 4.6 I might be in the minority though. I use 4.5

I also realized since I started using 4.6 that it’s not as good but I was sure I was dreaming. The new ones I didn’t think are worse then the old ones but I’ll have to try again now that I see I’m not Judy crazy
