Does anyone here use Netfree internet filter in the US?
Please let me know trying to find out pricing and details but the website seems very complicated and confusing
They have a few different levels
The most open plan comes out to 70 dollars for the year.
I highly recommend NetFree, if you can handle how strict they are.
What details?
It’s only for computers
It’s not customizable that you could choose how strict you want
Meaning if I would want unrestricted access but yet blocking just inappropriate pictures and videos it doesn’t have that option?
What would you suggest as the best filter for a computer?
No.
I doubt most Jewish filters would allow that, but NetFree is the strictest filter out there, and definitely wouldn’t let that.
This is how NetFree works:
They are essentially a giant whitelist.
Only sites that have already been reviewed are allowed.
When a site is reviewed, it gets categorized as one of the following:
- A site thats completely clean, and doesn’t need any content filtering
- A site that can be filtered with their standard content filtering
- A site that isn’t treif, but due to the nature of the site, their standard content filtering wouldn’t be enough.
If there’s enough of a demand, they might build a custom solution for that site if they can, otherwise its blocked. - A site that is treif, and is completely blocked
They already have over 800,000 sites reviewed, so most sites that you’d want to use are already categorized.
If you want to access a site that hasn’t been reviewed yet, you can send a request for them to review it.
From their approved sites, you can whitelist or blacklist sites or categories of sites (like shopping or software downloads) just like any other filter.
This is how their standard content filtering works:
All pictures show up pixelated, and on the spot are sent to be screened by their team of goyim.
If its kosher, it will be opened.
If it doesn’t meet their standards, it will be completely blocked.
Once a picture is approved, it gets saved to their database, and whenever you bump into that same picture anywhere online, it will be automatically opened, without needing any screening first.
For videos and music, you have to request for it to be manually reviewed, if it hasn’t been reviewed yet.
Text is automatically screened for inappropriate content.
Their philosophy is maximum kashrus, so they are very strict.
No pictures of women.
24six is blocked as a site that needs a custom solution.
Mishpacha is categorized as “Foreign opinions”.
They are primarily an Israeli filter, and don’t have a lot of servers in America, so it will slow down your Internet a lot more than other filters.
I feel that all that is still worth it, if you can manage it.
Support for Android tablets is under development, it might already be somewhat supported.
Thanks for all that information
Just wondering how would let’s say YouTube work is that totally TRIEF or is that in a different category?
Youtube?
“A site that isn’t treif, but due to the nature of the site, their standard content filtering wouldn’t be enough.

So you’re saying as of now YouTube did not have enough demand!?
They have certain approved channels open plus you can send a video for review and if it meets their standards they will open it for everyone. https://wiki.netfree.link/wiki/Using_the_YouTube_site_with_NetFree
I’ve been using their filter for years in the U.S.A. LMK if you have any other questions.
