K this might be crazy, but maybe they messed with the pm binary in /system/bin?
I was thinking that’s possible. Hard to know from afar hold on
adb install also works through pm?

Pretty sure. Copies it to some temp folder and installs
i dont have linux but i have anydesk
but i have crb which uses some wsl not sure if thats what you want
