Stupid question: if flashing the new bands still doesnt work, how would editing the stock NVDATA to remove the simlock change anything? I feel like im missing something

Flash 3.0.2 before
md1img show hardware support for all those bands and I (did I?) enabled them.
Sim lock removed, connecting to carrier, not all bands made it.
Only 1,3,5,7,8,20,28,34,38,39,40,41 are showing in engineer mode.

Which is needed for lte?
So two things:
Even though I “enabled” the bands, there is a file SS1A_011 in nvdata that was configured to prioritize EU. Basically, the modem thinks it’s in EU.
I took the F30’s SS1A_011 and replaced stock. Not tested yet, but if correct, engineer mode should show them when flashed.
Even on version that was tested, a call went through on Total Wireless Verizon.
Also, this process proved that “simunlock” was in the nvdata, as it wouldn’t even connect before I patched it, EVEN if the band enabling didn’t work.
All that being said, I still have no idea what I’m talking about. But me sounds smart.
We’ll see if the newly patched one makes any difference.
But it made a call in the US!
Side note: I’d try switching to LTE only to test more

Looks like youre onto something, but need a bit more info. Doesn’t the US band flash process replace the entire nvdata with that of the F21 already? Are you saying you narrowed it down to a specific file? Can you describe a little more how your process differs from the one on XDA.
Yes, it replaced nvdata (and a few more), but that did not work on this new hardware.
That’s besides the point the guide on xda was a guy who also didn’t understand these things, and could’ve just said “flash all these partitions, because I’m not sure which one it was”.
I compared the nvdata from v3 f21 to f30, and found the files that enable the US bands, and copied them over, without changing anything else. I also noticed that SS1A_011 in nvdata is the modems region config.
New one was EU (even with bands enabled), so I replaced it. Still untested, waiting…
Also, the new one has a “corporate sim lock” in nvdata.
0 - unlocked
1 - locked
2 - ???
3 - corporate lock
So I patched that too, and the device connected to total wireless, no data, with HD logo, and made an outgoing call.
I’m hoping that the USA region config will force the modem to search for the bands I enabled.
I’m really hoping md1img will not have to be edited… That’s way more serious…
