TCL Flip 2 Phone (Master Thread)

Okay! So I’m using the stene.xyz guide now and I’ve gotten the phone into fastboot mode. Problem is, I’m in the platform-tools directory cmd and I typed “fastboot flashing unlock”, clicked enter, and nothing. Do I need to substitute the spaces for slashes or something like that?

Does your phone say you are in fastboot mode?

Yessir!

Maybe try using this guide, the platform tools your using may be too old.

Okay, so I followed the steps which resutled in me factory reseting the phone. I dialed the thing the guide told me to dial, and nothing there. Do I need a sim card in the phone and to press call? I took the sim card out to hopefully avoid bricking

Edit: omg im stupid i forgot to flash the image. I started from the top and remembered to flash the image

Update: as of this moment in time, my phone is stuck on the TCL logo as though its starting but stuck. I hope I didnt just brick this :sob:

Don’t worry we all have those moments

Okay now I’m scared I bricked it. I went back and made sure I flashed the image this time (neutron.img) and now it’s stuck on the TCL screen where it just says “TCL” as its booting up. I don’t know what i could’ve done wrong here.

Do you know which software version your phone was on? I believe you can check under the battery.

I think it just said 03? That and I found I’m on KEKA under another setting. But yeah, currently trying to see if I can get into fastboot… i was able to last night when it initially bricked (which was after I flashed the img and rebooted the phone)

but then when I started removing and replacing the battery as per the process of using autobooter to get into fastboot, it stopped going into fastboot and just showing me the letters TCL without starting up.

I’m check and see if i can get the phone into fastboot again… but i think its officially bricked.

If you are on KEKA then you have to use the boot image labeled “Keka Rooted Boot” in this post.

Try shutting the phone off, running autobooter and then connecting the phone. Once in fastboot mode flash that boot image.

Okay i was able to get back into fastboot mode, but for whatever reason, autobooter closed out. I’m afraid to try running it again while it’s in fast boot and removing and reinserting the battery because i think i did that last night when this happened and it took me back to the TCL screen

Edit: that file for the KEKA img looks different, is it supposed to be a “PhotoDirector9.0imgfile”? The name of the img itself is image-new.img

Update: autobooter keeps closing after i enter fastboot. I can’t flash an img if I cant use autobooter ;-;

Autabooter is meant to close once your in fastboot mode

Oh ok, (its possible that I knew that last night but it left my mind amitdst all the confusion) now I’m a bit confused. Do I just open command prompt in the folder with all my jailbreak files? It wouof be called “platform-tools” and type commands there?

Edit: figured it out. Now gonna dial the thing to get magisk

Alright I booted the img! The phone is factory reset and works! I’m on the step of the guide you linked where I need to dial *#*#217703#*#* to open masgisk, do I need the sim card inserted for this step or something? Because nothing happens

Yes u need mobile data or a wifi connection to download and install magisk

So that means I would have to set up the phone (select language, etc so I can connect to wifi) prior to dialing it, correct?

Yes, or u can connect to Wi-Fi after you set up the phone

Alright, i have magisk installed now. The next step tells me to navigate to the settings and enable Zygisk, but it won’t let me select the settings icon in the top right to do so. I tried clicking through Home, Superuser, Logs, and Modules to see if I could get to the setting through there and I can’t.

I’m really sorry for needing to have my hand held through the process, I just keep running into problems at each step.

I’m the one who wrote the guide, can’t for the life of me remember why I wrote to enable zygisk. Was a long time ago.

Try skipping, use scrcpy, or install the mouse first.

Didn’t worry about asking questions, we’ve all been there… Soon you’ll be helping others!

Okay, so went to my browser and installed that application, allowed unknown sources, and step 4 of that guide is where I’m kinda stuck. The thing I downloaded just lead the me enabling adb usb debugging. It didnt say anything about a root or anything like that. What do I do now? Cause it says I need to run some commands next, in my phone i assume, so where do I go to do that? I’m currently looking to see if theres a new application or something on my phone.
