How about a page outside of the forum (lets say @ apps.jtechforums.org) of recommended apps, taking the best from the uploaded apps thread, sort of like what Apps4flip has?
We can include both apps for flip phones and our webapps and apps that were modded to be kosher.

100 percent I actually requested this from the admins some time ago was thinking of putting one together myself based off this site

How about a landing page featuring different parts of the forum that might interest a first time visitor?

There could be…

  • a link to a page with apps
  • a link to a page with a list of our guides
  • a link to a page featuring threads that might interest a first timer, for example
    • phones for sale
    • beginners questions
    • cellphone carrier threads
  • a search box to search the forums

A collection of phone reviews would also be great if we would have more of them.

We’re already paying for the current website and domain. Anybody wants to host the website, I’ll be happy to help with JavaScript.

Just wondering…
We’re talking about what can just be four pages of html. I would’ve thought that that wouldn’t make a dent in the cost of hosting an entire forum.

the domain i own. not the hosting…
it costs 25$ for the hosting - a simple website…
i’d rather go open source mode and ask our dear @FlipAdmin if he can host it on his server…

The main thing is that wherever it is, anyone who goes to jtechforums.org should land on that page, either by the person being redirected to the home page, or by the page being at jtechforums.org to begin with.
