MIO-KITCHEN (ROM Unpacker/Packer)

Thanks @flip for this resource GitHub - ColdWindScholar/MIO-KITCHEN-SOURCE: An Android Rom Tool in python
I will probably be playing around with it so I wanted to open a thread for discussing it.

Good luck! Used to use that before i switched to CRB, if i recall correctly, it had issues rebuilding the system/super. Could be those were fixed by now

I have a TCL super. I unpacked a super and unpacked system. I went into system>priv-app and deleted a folder. I repacked the super and it jumped from 2 GB to 9 GB. Any reason it would do that? @ys770 is this what you are referring to?

i dont remember exactly, but it definitely made issues building the super

You can set image size when packing

Is there a reason I want it bigger than the three partitions take up?

Usually you will want it the same size as the original in order to avoid errors.

Is there a way to set it to go by default to the original size.

Not that I know of for a super.

And to avoid errors I have to have the same size to the tea or around the same size is good. Because the super says 2 gig but somewhere else I saw it was a long number.

When I did it I put the exact number in. Yeah that long number. You can find it in the original file properties.

Just putting it out there the best thing about this is the fact that it doesn’t require wsl

Works with techloq

If your asking, yes it does.

How you add a new app to a ROM?
Is it as simple as making a new folder in the app folder and putting the APK in there?

yeah pretty much. in the software you are using the apk and folder name should be the same

In some folder there are more than just the APK.
Does that mean I need to add more than just the APK?
Any permissions I need to add? Chatgpt mentioned 644…

permissions will be set automatically, i think. but the app folder needs 750 and the apk is 644

What does this mean and how do I set that.

you probably dont have too
