I guess if they they could make their own OS and not based off Android (though looks very similar) its not so hard to produce your own new way of transfering data not through WiFi.

Example: The Google KosherOS.com is called a custom os, but it’s just a custom ROM

yeah. As well as lineageos and more.
I take back whatever I said in the past about that.
They’re called that, for marketing purposes.
It doesn’t make it a whole new os.
They’re customized os’s, not custom os’s.
Otherwise, every stock rom could be considered a custom os.
