Affinity combines tools comparable to Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign into one powerful suite — and it runs surprisingly well on Linux via Wine, though not officially supported.
Until now, a perpetual license started at around $70.
There’s now an optional subscription for its AI features, but otherwise, all tools and functionality are completely free.
Affinity is great, I’ve actually been using Serif PhotoPlus and DrawPlus since I think version 4 or 5, when they switched to Affinity it was a huge step up to almost match Photoshop/Illustrator. I got a great deal on all three V2 programs for $30 since I already had V1, But it’s crazy they can offer V3 for free! I didn’t get a chance to try it yet. (I hope they don’t get some more caveats with this whole free Canva thing, but for now seems good) Hopefully another hit to Adobe! I assume it didn’t take a hit because technically whoever wanted to leave Adobe for Affinity wasn’t held back by the $70 or so vs free. Whoever is still with Adobe is stuck in their eco system for whatever reason, or needs a specific feature that Affinity doesn’t have, which I don’t think changes with this version. I guess the hope is that it will make Affinity more famous for those that don’t realize yet that its an option, or if they needed Adobe’s AI features, now they can use Canva’s, although it costs money.
I think they will come up soon. this was caused by all the AI models you can ask to generate edit pictures, and other picture editors, but not for there other programs
