Alright, the second project on DPAD tools is out. Please test and give me feedback.
Awesome app. Really d-pad compatible not like most so called “d-pad compatible apps except for making a new conversation and for settings and for..”.
Very slooooww.
Takes forever to load, and you go back out from a conversation it starts all again.
Same with going in conversations, it actually didn’t even load the previous messages for me in large conversations, only in small ones.
Thanks much again for giving away so much time for d-pad compatible apps, and have much luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll take a look into loading times, loading conversations, and general optimization. I am testing on the Qin F21 so I understand that devices that are older may have extra complications. But we are working on this!

I tested first on E4610 and that’s what I got.
I also tested on f21 and it was much faster

The messaging app is still not useable by me, I’m not able to scroll in a conversation or send messages and I can’t access the “new conversation pencil button” and also can’t access “conversation options”, and pictures take up too much space, sorry if I sound like i’m complaining, I think this app has great potential and has been fixed a lot since it came out, I will also say I like how the main menu looks, Its not too zoomed in and scrolling is easy
And the app just crashes on Sonim XP5s XP5800
What phone did you try it on?

Doesn’t install on exalt, exalt has message+ so it doesn’t need a replacement messaging app anyway

The app installs and opens on my Sonim xp3800. All buttons are dpad navigable except once i navigate to the Message field i can’t get out of it or hit send button.
The conversation options work now, but I can’t see all settings listed, and scrolling in conversation works, but if you press the type message box, it breaks again, the app also just crashes after a few seconds on the XP5s still
You should probably remove the clip and emoji button cause D-Pad can’t get to it, maybe add it to a menu that appears if you press the star button or something. Same for main menu with the archive and settings button (but that’s easy to get to right now).
I’ll have to go get a Sonim and a Kyocera. It seems like these devices have extra issues haha.

I can navigate to it via dpad.
But in general, D-pad messaging apps don’t have it

Testing now on an E4610 and when a new message comes to a thread that is not muted in the app crashes
