Issue with Tracfone cellular service, not working.

Cell Network: Tracfone.

I have a TCL Flip 2, everything is working, cell service, messaging, wifi etc. Felt it was time to look into rooting.

Decided to buy another TCL Flip 2 and work on it. Got things working, installed magisk, Aurora store, F-droid, whatsapp, waze etc. Everything was ok.

I felt comfortable where i was at and last Friday, i moved my cell number from the old to the new phone. Resulted in no cell service on either phone. Contacted Tracfone support over few chats and calling them. First they told me the SIM card needed to be replaced, which i did. Still no cell service. Then i was told to get a replacement phone as everything looked good on their end. I did more more research and saw where rooting could effect Volte, so i successfully installed the Volte_Wifi_Calling_Enabler magisk module .

Wi-Fi calling shows in Call Settings.

86583 Volte is ON/OFF.

66384 Bypass e911 address disable/enable.

4636 shows Product name T408DL, Software version KEFH, Hardware version 03.

But stiil no cell service.

when i try to make a call, i get either:

‘server unreachable’,

‘insert a valid SIM card to continue’,

‘USSD code running’ followed by ‘Carrier message: connection problem or invalid MMI code’ . (this only showed up after i installed the magisk module).

I have checked through my Settings, all seem to look good with possible exception of

I’m hoping to get some help to resolve this problem as it’s been almost a week without service.

Did the second phone come with a sim card? Did you try transferring the number to that sim card?

yes it did. That was the SIM card they told me needed to be replaces, which i did.

adb shell service call iphonesubinfo 15/19 shows my number

This is a issue, should say registered. Its likely that somehow the phone got unwhitelisted from verizon because of the root, which causes the phone to act like this, try to see if it works with T-Mobile networks

On both non rooted and rooted phone?

on the old phone, it shows disconnected. shows connected on new phone but calling/texting not working.

So since you put your SIM card in rooted phone your TracFone service is broken even with other phones and a new SIM card?

the old phone has its original sim card. the new phone had its sim card replaced with a new one.

i didn’t replace my new phones sim card with the old phones one.

so i would have to move my service from Tracfone to T-mobile, just to see if it works?

You can test it out (like buy 1 month of US mobiles light network), or ask someone whos ok with giving their T-Mobile SIM card to you

I think that would be a good idea after i transfer my number back to my old phone, so i can send/receive texts and calls. And if my new phone works on T-mobile, i can transfer my phone number back from Tracfone.

But i can’t believe that people with a rooted phone have to go through a similar process?

Rooted plenty of phones and never had this issue. But TracFone can be annoying because each sim is technically connected to a specific phone, and each phone with a specific sim so transferring a sim from one phone to another can sometimes cause issues

In my case, i haven’t transferred a sim from one phone to another.

What software is your phone running.

Look under the battery.

KEKA, but i rooted it with KEFH. Followed instructions from stene.xyz/flip2

I’m not sure how accurate that guide was.

I think there’s a solution here that was confirmed to work.

Basically i have to start from the beginning:

Root/Enable APK installation

Install Magisk apk.

Install Volte_Wifi_Calling_Enabler magisk module.

Test Cell service.

Flash back the KEKA super also

It worked.

Calls and Texts both work.
