@Megalife, any way to get the Megalife F1 in the UK?

@Megalife how can I use rcs in settings it shows that it’s on but it doesn’t seem to work I know @Darth claims it’s working what am I doing wrong?

@sams-club This seems to be due to the version of Google Messages we are currently using. We are testing out different versions and will update it when we find a version which does not have the AI features (or that the AI features can be properly blocked). When using a later version of the app RCS worked while it did not on the current version.

Hi @Megalife,
Thank you for bringing another Kosher phone to the market. I’m particularly looking for a rugged, heavy duty device with Android Auto that will not break if a child throws it around.
Can you please clarify the difference between Zen and Core? Is it a difference in the available app groups?
I also didn’t see JStream or Jewish Music Stream listed. Is that something you would consider adding? That’s very important for me.
Another question: who decides which apps are added? Is there rabbinical or organizational guidance or any certification? And what’s the process for getting another app approved?
Finally, could you clarify what makes your phones better than the filtered CAT S22 available at BSD Phones in multiple variations? Is it upgraded software, additional RAM, or something else?

Yes, exactly. The Core, as the name implies, will have only basic apps. While the Zen will not offer anything and everything it does have more options.

Everything we do is with Rabbinic guidance. We have a Rabbinic board who gave us the original “guidelines” and any questionable app or feature is brought to their attention.
Obviously I won’t speak directly regarding a specific competitor but I can answer what makes our device better than the original CAT S22 which you can buy on Amazon. We have upgraded the RAM and storage size in addition to the Android version being upped from 11 to 13. We are also building the OS from source and we constantly will be providing updates with bug fixes and general feature improvements. Building from source also gives us enhanced abilities in terms of managing the device Kashrus.

We definitely have plans for the future! But right now we are focused on improving this device. Down the line we hope to have a few more models and variations.

True but it’s missing the sync feature which is a big plus for a lot of people.

If we could, we would! Obviously, you might not take our word for it and it feels like shouting into the wind sometimes but unfortunately, as a small company, we do not have the resources to make volume orders like T-Mobile did with the CAT S22. Plus, T-Mobile subsidized that phone to lock people into service contracts. Keep in mind back when T-Mobile launched this phone they charged $235 not the $60 sell-off price you’ve seen on Amazon. That’s a $115 more than us with all the advantages they had to be able to charge less plus no fees involved in the “kosher development” aspect (yes we have in-house frum developers). Take a look here or here where you can see their original pricing.
That said, let’s keep this channel for actual support and not to negotiate our prices. It will be more conducive for everyone involved. From what I’ve heard this topic has been debated extensively here already…
