My Experience with the M5StickC PLUS2 and Firmware Options

Hey everyone! :waving_hand:

I recently got my hands on the M5StickC PLUS2, and if you don’t know what that is—don’t worry, most people don’t. It’s a tiny ESP32-based device with a screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a couple of buttons. Think of it as a mini Flipper Zero, but way cheaper—we’re talking $20 to $30 tops.

While it’s not as plug-and-play as the Flipper, once you get it set up, it can do a lot of the same fun stuff: Bluetooth spamming, Evil Portal-style Wi-Fi tricks, and other wireless mischief. It’s a pocket-sized playground for hackers and tinkerers.

:light_bulb: My Experience So Far

The first thing I did—and what I highly recommend—is flashing the M5Launcher firmware. This is a must. It gives you a clean menu system and lets you install and switch between different apps and firmware without needing a PC. All you need is a Wi-Fi connection (I just used my phone’s hotspot).

From there, I tested several firmware options and found one I really liked: Bruce. It has a nice, beginner-friendly UI and makes navigating the device super convenient. It doesn’t come with games, but it’s great for managing tools and utilities.

What really surprised me was what’s already available inside M5Launcher itself. It includes fun little apps like:

  • :t_rex: The Chrome Dinosaur Game
  • :brick: Tetris

Not saying they’re going to blow your mind, but it’s just crazy cool to see them running on a device this small.

 Anyone Else Using It?

If you’ve got the M5StickC PLUS2, I’d love to hear your experience. What firmware are you running? Any cool hacks, tools, or ideas you’ve tried? Drop your thoughts below—I’m always looking for inspiration!

Send a link where you purchased it?

I’ve messed around with a glinet mango v2 (mini travel router) flashed with WiFi pineapple firmware flashed.

This is less powerful then the pineapple but never heard of the mango…
I’ll send the link soon iyh

The mango is just a travel router.

The wifi Pineapple software is not official. Has some drawbacks but fun to mess with.

Here’s the Amazon link

Anyone has this or similar alternatives?!

How does it compare to the Flipper Zero?
Does it have NFC?

Just adding here, flipper zero - the etzem piece is not so useful… you need to know engineering and hardware to apply your custom modules etc.

You can add modules but by default it doesn’t come with NFC but definitely NFC supported
