Phone Recommendations from Users

Hi guys,

I’m looking for a personalized flip phone recommendation for me to use in case any of you know about some that I don’t have.

Requirements:

  • Flipphone form.
  • Android OS
  • The best camera I can get on flip phone.
  • Lightweight.
  • Option to add apps. I am not Jewish, so I don’t want anything that is locked down so hard I will brick it when I install custom apps.
  • I prefer touchscreen, but not necessary.
  • Edit: I am in North America, and the phone should preferably be registered with all three American Networks.

Cat S22 Flip.

Flip phone.
Android Go.
Not so good camera.
Heavyweight.
Has a play store.
Touchscreen.
Works with T-Mobile out of the box. AT&T I am not sure. Verizon, there is a guide out there to get it working. Make sure you buy an unlocked one if you are not using T-Mobile.

Yes, I considered them, I have friends who have them. Just rather heavy, I might get it if nothing else comes up.

The best would probably be to wait for the Orbic Cat F125 to be released.

Do you want an app store or side load is fine

try the kyocera series but its not touch

Actually prefer side load. I don’t want it super easy to install apps, just possible in the event of life needing something. :smiley:

That is my current phone, its worn out and I am researching my options. Its not the worst, I actually like it a lot.

The reason for the questioning, I have seen the Wonder and the Fig, and they are great, its just that they are to limited for my purposes. I need a few more app options. I especially like the large display and camera.

I haven’t seen it before, thanks for the mention. I will look into it.

check out the Sonim’s. not touch, not the best camera but it’s not bad. long battery life, sideloading via ADB and fast

Very easy btw and confirmed working. I did it. Very easy. Looks threatening, but that guy just says every single and possible step… I was surprised he did not tell me like to eat something if I was hungry during the process…

If you’re willing to rely on Shizuku for C9, the Sonim Xp3900 is a lot better than all Kyoceras and the Sonim Xp3800.

I like the 3800 because there is a mouse that works and there is recent apps

Good suggestion there, I may have to try that. Its probably the best I’ve seen.

I may also just get two phones, that way I can have a Wonder phone for daily use, then another phone with my apps on. It would be highly expensive though. I might see if I can find a Chinese company to build me a similar phone, and have more options available. I think there would be a really good market for selling something like that, especially to the GenZ crowd who is looking for a simpler phone, but also wants some options.

Has anyone on here seen the https://minimalcompany.com/? I really like the idea, minimal phone, eInk display, but basic Android functionality. The screen is complete black and white.

Seems like a smart design.
