Try using a different root explorer like Mt manager
Press the lock button in the top-right corner to remount.
Thanks @FliphoneBochur that helped me move the apk into root.
@Samtee-1 I moved it into system, priv-app and rebooted and nothing happened (I didnât find it in the app list). I also tried putting the apk into a new folder in priv-app and then rebooted but it didnât help.
What was supposed to happen when rebooting? Was I supposed to find Android Auto in the app list?
No, you technically should have seen Android Auto in the settings check there, if you canât find it try it again with this root explorer itâs very effective in my experience
Root_Explorer-v4.11.5_build_217.apk (4.1 MB)
So that guy was me and let me fill in the crowd.
In the link @ArisuSanchez put in the reddit page where you download the gapps module thereâs 3 different options. One starts with AUTO one with MAKSU and one with recovery. In the guide it says to use the one that starts with auto. I happened to have used the one that stars with maksu and I dmd @ArisuSanchez if there is a difference between them.
If anyone knows the dif between maksu and auto please share.
did not work on my phone says instalation failed
Do you have magisk installed?
Was the zip in the internal storage of the device?
@NotABird Can you explain the difference between Gapps and MicroG?
Gapps is Google services, microG is fake Google services.
I used liteGapps. Though it may have slowed down the phone a bit, it was pretty simple. I just had to install the module. I did not have to follow the steps written here. Seemingly those steps are needed to install MigroG.
I would mention that what I used came along with a play store.
MicroG is just to spoof google play services on the phone for apps that require it, it comes with nothing else, so it doesnât really slow down your phone. If you want google play store, use aurora store with root permissions
Yes and Yes i dont want google apps i just want android auto to work does this let allow android auto to work?
I have play services running and the android auto doesnât work.
Check this thread out.
I am trying to free up any running apps that I donât need running all the time.
There is 2 apps one Google Play Services and one Google Play Store.
I currently need play services for certain apps such as chat and photos, does that mean I need both these apps running? What will happen if I disable both of them or either of them?
Disable the play store is fine. For most apps. Play services on the other hand, wonât go well
Which apps would it effect?
Google apps (by Google LLC)
I guess if I use Google Photos and Google Chat itâs not worth disabling.
I disabled the play store yesterday and so far Google Photos and Google Chat are working fine.
