Depends on what the issue is. If your bottleneck is RAM capacity forcing you to use swap, then it should help. No harm in trying, but probably worth actually diagnosing what the issue is first.

You need to check if your motherboard accepts such a configuration. It will have more RAM capacity but you wont utilize the dual channel speeds.

No. Windows will make the is more ram efficient though, but for what you need it won’t be enough.

But not today-tomorrow, it may take quite some time until production hits higher capacity.

I feel stupid to ask, but did you restart your computer any time recently?

If not, just do.

You can recover all closed windows with ctrl+shift+t or just in history.

I had my fan going loud and my computer running slow, a peek in task manager showed my RAM usage at over 80 percent (64 GB installed). Updated chrome, restarted Windows, and haven’t had issues since. (At least until it will next need a restart…)

Lol, I just had this week where a user does not reboot his computer ever and calls that it’s slow. A few weeks ago I told him he must reboot weekly, he agreed and we left it at that.

This week he called again and I just made a scheduled task to reboot his computer every Tuesday night at 1:00 a.m.

I told him to make sure that every single week Tuesday to save all of his work because his computer is going to restart and there’s nothing he can do to stop it.

I heard from a different IT company where once they implemented weekly reboots as part of the rmm patch management, their weekly tickets went down by half.

In Windows, a restart is more than shutdown and turn on.

Unless you turn off fast startup.

It’s a shame I had to reboot, before that was a few months.

Linux you shouldn’t have to restart as often as Windows.

And for special purpose devices, pretty much never.

My Mac sometimes starts to consume battery really fast if I leave it on for a while (probably some app that I opened). Other than that, it doesn’t need to restart.

True. This is my main PC btw, not a server. Only ever restart if I absolutely have to.
