Returning already filtered Kyocera

My brother is having problems with his Kyocera E4810.

Still within return/exchange window, but he brought it to TAG and they said what they did is irreversible. Is this true?

To be clear, I’m not asking how to break the filter (well, kinda, so if this is a problem, remove my post). I just want to get it ready for an exchange for him.

I never really messed around with these Kyoceras.

Very possible.

A custom ROM without recovery or fastboot… Yes

So it’s doomed?

They can’t reverse it or they don’t want to?

May be. Kyocera doesn’t exactly release their firehose

This is the phone they spoof an update package with?

Huh?

How do they put on their ROM in the first place

Though they use system updates, unless that’s a different phone

It could but I doubt it, its there policy they don’t untag

Flash lk, boot and abl - reboot.

No flashing possible.

Yes

For reference, Purifone have their own OEM-signed firmwares for the E4810, as of late 2024/early 2025.

Custom system and vendor with rebuilt vbmeta signed by Kyocera.

They can reverse it if they wanted to. The capabilities are there.
