Tzibbur App

I hear, it kinda is true otuside our circles, not sure about in our circles.

Our dev communites tends to behave pretty differently.

About Zemer specifically, it wouldn’t be a smart idea for kosher phone companies to allow it, for multiple reasons.

Obviously in alpha, but I will note that encryption works fine on my test Kyocera, and I am working on the Sonim issue.

@Dev-in-the-BM_2.0 what reasons?

Legal issues, from both Google and the artists.

Because it's a distraction.

From what I’ve heard, Fig wanted to offer 24six on their phones, and their rabbonim said no.

There you go, three reasons.

Good enough?

thats why i heard they where ,and maybe are conserdiring making their own

Yes

but why the artist? why would they give a flip, they should  it @Dev-in-the-BM_2.0 your right but i cuaghet u one one

I’ll sum it up in one sentence for now (maybe I’ll argue it another time)

On “born Kosher” phones, the only code reuse allowed is when?, after struggling for two years to build a usable dialer you resort to heavily modifying Simple Mobile Tools repositories so much that it can only be linked back at the code-block level rather than full files.

Really.

Is that why every single phone allows Waze, instead of making their own navigation app?

Why Fig uses Breezy weather and Metro Music?

Why Wonder uses Musicolet and DIGIT GROVE’s Unit Converter?

They didn’t even bother to reskin an existing FOSS unit converter, and instead used an ad infested proprietary app, which keeps freezing because ads aren’t being shown.

Even Keyphone, which b’shita won’t allow third party apps, including Waze, relies heavily on reskining FOSS apps.

A Phone company, that could make a ad that it includes waze is a **BIG ** plus, not some disgusting reskined app,

its not like their is something wrong with it.

becuse its one of a kind, and its not like it a basic app that you need, its a app that is a extra.

ok so what?

Thats a point, buts its not the messging app, your the only guy that probley uses it

they dont fully target the jewish market.

You missed the boat, rebbe.

I was replying to this:

According to that, whether including it allows you to advertise a shiny feature is irrelevant.

Therefore?

I don’t use it, but if I did and was the only one, then they wouldn’t be adding it.

agree :folded_hands:

Some apps like Waze became mandatory, and give it a bit, every brand will make its own “better” unit converter.

BTW, have you ever actually worked for a Kosher phone manufacturer to debate this? it doesn’t seem like it…

Some phones pushed it - someone sent it to me because they got it

Nothing really to do once you RE it. If you’d like you can make a group or send messages. Not much else.

Do I need a phone number for it to work?

What does it mean to RE it?

Yes you need a phone number

Does it use SMS or just data? do I need wifi or data for it to work?

do i need the phone number for verification or can i use a google voice number for it?

is there a web version that I can use it from @sams-club

and @ars18 what does RE mean?
