Ultimate Guide to Choosing a Cellular Carrier (USA)

Mobile data in the USA is a sad thing by me. It uncovers many sleepless nights and wasted hours because of bad data…
I’m with USmobile.
Whatever.
Hate all carriers in the USA.

In Israel I had pelefone - with a nasty 10MBps download speed - 250GB per month for 15$.
Hotspot and tethering is unlimited as well. No difference.
All on 4G.

Here, I’m begging for 50KBps even though having unlimited…
4G here is terrible.

I’m on 4glte Verizon have around 20-40mbps usually, 2-10 when i have bad service
All depends where in the U.S. Lakewood is known to have terrible data speeds with all carriers (at least on 4g)
(Just curious, you mentioned israel, how come in Israel you didn’t choose the hotmobile 29 shekel plan for 150gb? Was the best and cheapest data plan I’ve seen anywhere)

And what ridiculous price are you paying for that?

$25/month

  • 20 mega byes per second? Or mega bits per second?

  • hot Mobile sucks.

The standard Mbps that all Internet speed tests are measured by default.

Megabits per second

So 1 megabyte is 8 megabits, so the pelefone service you had was 80mbps, otherwise If you meant a standard 10mbps that would be quite slow but not nearly as slow as 50kbps that you’re getting here with us mobile, that’s barely an Internet connection.
Just so people know
1000 kbps is one megabit-per second which is the standard mbps that speed tests are measured by and companies advertise.
8 megabits-per second /mbps is 1 megabyte per second which is MBps yes, the MB is capitalized , that’s how it’s referred to.
The next level is gbps which is gigabits per second which is 1000 mbps (the best 5g speeds are holding here)

I was only talking about mega bytes

Alright, however in the United States at least data speed is measured by megabits

Yeah, my bad

Really?
Data is measured in bits instead of bytes?
Why?

As to why we measure internet speed in bits even though the internet delivers bytes of data, it is because the internet delivers those bytes of data as single bits at a time. And because those bits sometimes come out of order and from different server locations, it’s both more accurate and more intuitive to measure speed as a factor of the number of bits per second that an internet connection is capable of transmitting, not the total number of memory units, or bytes, it transmits.

It’s a pity there aren’t many 5g capable flip phones. 5g service is usually pretty good and is almost everywhere these days.

Does anyone know if us mobile-tmobile in brooklyn is good?

Yes

What about us mobile/verizon my friend has it using a qin and he says service doesn’t workin brooklyn on the us mobile/verizon network. Is it the qin or the network?

Are there even any 5g flip phones ?
