Verizon Email to SMS or MMS not working

I’m trying to send an SMS from my email to my Verizon number and it’s not working
And I’m also trying to send from my phone to my email and it’s not working,
I used this website for the address.

Verizon has officially discontinued their SMS-email gateway.

I understand, but my friends tell me it works for them.

It’s unreliable.
Works for some people, doesn’t work for others.
Same thing with T-mobile.
I have friends that SMS-email works, but it doesn’t work for me.

It still works for me, I just tested it

My T-Mobile works too receive but not send

USM Warp works for me both ways as of today

@Shalom_Karr could you make some sort of bot to send and receive emails through sms?

The idea would be to sign up your number and an (second) email with the password so you could take over the account. And any sms sent to your number will be sent to the email listed in the text and any email sent to the account will be forwarded to my number. Unless you have a different idea…

The email part is simple. The sms part is not

I would think things would be opposite.
Give it a try there is a big demand.

can you be a bit more clear?

I already made a script that lets you check a list of (however much you chose) latest emails and read them and send emails.

e.g. you send -list 5
and it replies with the senders and subjects of the last 5 emails

-read 2
replies with the content of the second to last email

-send; someone@example.com;subject content;full message

its fully free on pythonanywhere.com but requires you to setup an account etc. if someone has ideas on how to make this easily accessible, I’d be more then happy.

(since it’s a free account, if there’s a very long and complex html email the server will just stop in middle cuz it takes too long. also obviously since it’s running from groupme there’s no attachment support.)

currently it’s only available here the raw script with instructions. (it does need some updates. if there’s demand for it I’ll fix it up a bit)

Ya something like this I was talking about

i’m not following do i have to go through that complicated guide that you just posted above from that thread?

that’s what I’m saying that as of now yes. I’d love to make an easier way to set it up if anyone got ideas

right now you have to:

  • enable 2fa on your gmail
  • generate manually the app password
  • copy paste that into the script
  • set up your pythonanywhere account (harder on people then I thought it would be)
  • copy paste all scripts and commands manually to that script.
  • for weather or other features there you gotta get an API from their site and paste it in the script…

maybe @Shalom_Karr can help here by making a website that uses OAuth to give my script access to the users gmail and redirects to pythonanywhere to make a free account and allow the site to programatically set up the entire pythonanywhere account using their rest API. If you’re down for it I can make a back-end script to set up the entire thing on pythonanywhere using some post requests…

Can we switch this to JavaScript running in a GAS? Then we can OAuth to Google Account and use Gmail.App

I’d have to fully rewrite it as I won’t be able to use any of the python libraries. I’d like to do it just to get better at JavaScript. just not sure if/when I’ll have the time for it.

Hey guys, just saw this topic.

I ran into the same issue with my employer, he used the email to text feature quite a bit.

My solution to the problem was to setup a Telnyx number, then setup a Zapier automation that whenever a new message is sent to that number it sends it directly to the preconfigured email address.

Zapier has a free plan that works well and was very simple to configure. Lots of online help, and an AI on the website to help you get started.

Telnyx Pricing (Pay-as-you-go):

SMS/MMS:
Outbound: $0.0025 per message (0.25¢)
Inbound: FREE
• Save 30-70% vs competitors

Voice Calls:
Voice API: $0.002/minute (0.2¢)
SIP Trunking: $0.0035-0.005/minute
Call recording: +$0.002/minute

Other APIs:
Verify (2FA): $0.04 per call
Phone lookups: $0.0015 each

This looks like great Rates

Did you need to use your EIN to set it up?
What were the terms and conditions?

I can’t recall if I needed an EIN, but I think I did, I had to setup 10DLC business verification.

It wasn’t a big deal to me since I set it up previously for another use case in our business, and then I can add other numbers easily. Simply sending a message from my phone to Zapier might not even need 10DLC.

As for terms and conditions, feel free to read them. If you are familiar with 10DLC , it follows the standards.
