I mean, this would be awesome, but just know that alternatives exist if it doesnât run nice. I use Windows in a VM with qemu. Almost no difference in speed than host. I got a couple windows vms for different purposes.
Installing now, so far very polished, at least as far as installation is concerned.
It users the other repo, dockur/windows as itâs installation base.
Iâm using Ubuntu 24.04, and using Windows 11 LTSC for my winboat installation.
Looks like it uses an autounattemd.xml to breeze through windows installation.
I gave it 4 cores and 8gb ram.
Tip, you can use the flatpak version of freerdp for easier install

Installation was smooth.
Do not use their version of LTSC if you want LTSC, itâs an evaluation version and cannot be changed.
Opening apps natively on Linux does not work for me.
Using the freerdp client works very well, picture below:
Files from Linux are mounted as a network drive in Windows.
In short, for someone like me this setup doesnât really give any benefits. For someone unfamiliar with alternatives, this is a very good option for having a near native Windows experience on Linux.
If they fix the opening of apps without being directly in a freerdp session, this will be golden.
Maybe itâs a flatpak issue with freerdp? Iâll troubleshoot permissions.
Trying now with Windows 10 LTSC 2021 (downloaded iso).
Btw, I doubt anything graphics heavy would run well. If you learn docker compose, you may be able to share your GPU, but Iâm not 100 percent sure.

Opening apps natively in my Linux desktop works on Windows 10 LTSC after some cajoling.
Going to install office and see how it runs.

Some random display quirks, wouldnât call it a âfinishedâ project, but very usable. Apps take a few seconds to load from your linux desktop as well. Give it a go!

There are no exceptions to the root requirement until Google/your OEM figures out a fix.
Until then, you must xposed. I used to provide a non-xposed method too, where the module used overlayfs to replace the bluetooth library with a locally patched one, but that was broken due to how various devices handled overlayfs and a patched library. With xposed, you can also enable the DID hook enabling a few extra features
