eGate-Android MDM-version 1.14-1.16

Just curious if there’s an old version of the e-gate, and I install a newer version what pushes the new version to be used versus to continue using the old version?

Doesn’t have to be specifically egate, for the matter of the fact any app that’s on the flip phone. How does the device know to use the new package of the same app versus relying and using the old package?

Can I Bluetooth the package from one phone to another to Prompt the install?(assuming that would work like file manager) Or does it need to pushed on via abd?

Lastly is there an option to block the USB port from connecting to a computer, obviously allowing it to charge. As well as a block from accessing the SD card slot. Say I have a video player because I want to be able to take pictures and videos on the device. But I don’t want someone taking an SD card loaded with movies or alike in putting it on to the phone. Though… one can Bluetooth it and find some other ways to get it onto the phone so yeah.

how would i reinstall it? just by putting the apk file on the phone then tapping it to install?

also maybe put on the newer versions an option for you to push updates…

That should work.

When is the new update coming?

In the original thread for eGate it says that it works for the Cat flip phone. If I buy a brand new phone and install the filter I could imagine things would work.

One question, many apps have in app browsers. Even the pay per a month filters had there ups and downs with IAB’s, how does eGate deal with IAB’s?

I installed it on a cat it works great.
The way egate works with IAB is that it blocks everything, and you can ad exceptions

What do you mean everything?

It will block any in-app browser detected and you can add exceptions of which apps it shouldn’t block

Does this include any links to social media as well?

It will block anything and everything

A month, at least

I am guessing you can hide the play store. Will the apps auto-update without having to unhide it?

If you choose to block the Play store the apps will not auto update

But it won’t mess around with google play services, right?

It will not. It was designed to work around it

So are you saying that any app that is blocked will not function in the background?

Just curious why not have the app work in the background if there’s an update that’s available for a specific app?

Or I guess you would have to unlock the filter egate and manually unblock it to be able to update the apps.
