That has nothing to do with how the content filtering is done, and more to do with how the program that enforces it works.
NetFree allows emulators, and internet inside the emulators is filtered.
Bla bla bla, Iām not going to argue here. But believe me, you know nothing in this field. You donāt want to know unless itās your job. Itās a huge, endless, complicated, professional, genius field that belongs to the worldās biggest network processing engines, Like Google. I thought I could make a network filter until I realized itās all childās play.Itās hard to explain, like an engineer in a nuclear reactor trying to explain to a solar panel company what the job is all about. Spoke to someone about it and he said that it is based on OpenCV.
Just a question why is this not good if the filtering is done on device?
It removes the need for ssl decryption that is not secured.
The filters on the Livigent filter have ssl decryption that can be captured by anyone knowledgeable in the field.
Emunet may not be the best filter but it changing the way people think about filters, and is doing it in a good way.

Most filters install a CA cert to which only the company has the private key. DPI is done on their servers and unencrypted traffic cannot just be ācaptured by anyone knowledgeable in the fieldā.
Only the filtering company can inspect. (FWIW)
I think this is a great step in the direction of privacy.

There are companies that play clean and companies that play it dirty.
Overhere, we have companies that promise the world. But in reality, very few companies can do it right. Very few. Once you are in the line you understand that. You KNOW that thereās NO WAY they solved this and this issue. And you make a calculation and come out with a conclusion that their solution was - Screw over the gullible customers.
Company A has over 2k little servers all over the world to boost latency. Works fine.
Company B thinks āthereās no way we gonna get thatā¦ itās years of farmingā¦ā and then some shmigegi comes up with a solution āwhy are we proxying even? Letās make it localā like the kiwi browser extension iykyk.
Thatās not a solution for billions of reasons. But with the right connections - you can get away with it and the competition and customers suffer.

For certain types of people will this be useful?
For example people with a whitelist? Or people that need certain compliance, and as far as I know, no filter is able to be compliant.
I get that a local filter would be very resource intensive, but genuinely curious, why is it everyone puts so much trust into companies like techloq. a regular browser is end-to-end encrypted. if i understand correctly, a MITM type filter basically intercepts all data, (including CC info and banking logins), and de/re-encrypts it on their own servers. Is there any info about what type of security techloq has? Have they ever undergone an audit? Whatās stopping a random employee from selling everyoneās data? should i not be logging in to banking sites on a filtered computer?
as someone who doesnāt know too much about the field, it seems like most filters are a privacy/security nightmare, basically like using a random, no-name free VPN. wouldnāt filter like emunet would solve that.

Think what a whitelist filter is - a poor example of a poor company selling a poor product.
DO I HAVE TO WAIT 30 SECONDS FOR EVERY NETWORK REQUEST TO BE ALLOWED? 5 SECONDS? WHO NEEDS THAT? IāM A BUSY PERSON. A WHITELIST? SERIOUSLY? I CAN AI SLOP THAT IN A FRACTION OF A SECOND. THATāS A PRODUCT? A WHITELIST? EVERY CAPCTHA WINDOW I NEED TO REQUEST?
we get BILLIONS of different network requests daily. HOW CAN A WHITELIST EVEN BE A PRODUCT???
thats the questions you gotta ask yourself.
of course people want it sometimes. but thats not a product that people shall pay for at all.

This happens with all filters, if a user is tech savvy I show him how to see what is blocked in dev tools. I think that the new filter solves some issues but there will be a tradeoff with many new issues.
I would not recommend anyone to use the new filter for work yet. If they want they can use on their own device after knowing the risks involved.

Correct, where I work we deal primarily with computers and have around a 35k yearly bill with Techloq. There is a mobile browser with dev tools but those people that use it know how to request access.

Iām still waiting for a good whitelist filter at a lower price than a regular filter. Iām not even in the field professionally and Iāve had tens of people asking for everything blocked except 1-5 sites. (yes, a good whitelist filter that will let captcha etcā¦)
And I agree with everything you said about filters being complicated, and donāt trust Emunet until itās been used a lot, by many people, without issues. but most of it shouldnāt apply to a whitelist filter

I spoke to Geder today and asked about the filter, they said that itās not ready yet for businesses to use.
