A shuttle, I want customers to be able to track the shuttle by sending a text so I can use Google maps API or a open source project called traccer but my question is if I can use group me for the sms system
I donāt really like the idea of abusing GroupMeās SMS feature for business purposesā¦
Ha?? What do you mean? And if you really wanna know that shuttle is a non profit thing its for a new development and they are charging a minimumamount and fundraising for the rest thatās exactly y Iām looking for a cheap/zero cost option

Pretty Easily, If it can work on a website it can work on a GroupMe bot
You technically can but youāll have to add everyone they wanted to track it to a group (this part can be done with an automation like routeme) and everyone will see when anyone else checks where the shuttle is. Not very ideal. Youāll also have to deal with GroupMeās somewhat frequent SMS issues (such as not working for some numbers and going down every here and there.) but the biggest issue is with everyone seeing when anyone else checks.

True But then thatās no longer pure SMS and for total dumbbells as that would require going online, going to GroupMe, creating an account with your email and phone numberā¦ So depending on what the service is for it might not work

You canāt turn on SMS notifications from the GroupMe website anymore ā GroupMe no longer supports creating new SMS-based accounts or enabling SMS notifications. Existing SMS users can still receive texts, but new activations arenāt available.

I just created a GroupMe account with my Google voice number, I was able to turn on SMS notifications but I didnāt get any SMS notification.
I only got a message saying that this is the number for the group but when I added my second phone to the group and send a text message I only saw it online and not through SMS.

I just came back to America and my American account phone number doesnāt work with their sms although it did work before I left. Unless installing the app automatically changes to push and disabled sms which then means Iām in trouble.

Pretty good update for sms users. Till recently (not sure exactly) when you send a emoji with GroupMe the receiver would get a bunch of question marks. Lately you can recieve an actual emoji.
and Hebrew works now but #sms #add #remove dont work anymore on sms
