How to Make a CAT S22 Flip Work with Verizon

This guide is exported from Reddit.
I am posting it here,re-written and hopefully easier to understand. This guide is also available on our website.

This guide will walk you through each step, including how to install the necessary software and properly configure your phone.
Be warned: this is an advanced process that may risk damaging your device. Proceed at your own risk!

Requirements

Before we begin, you’ll need the following:

1. Software

  • QPST v2.7.496.1

Qualcomm Product Support Tools – lets you load modem config files onto Qualcomm-based phones.

  • Qualcomm USB Drivers

Allows your computer to recognize the phone in diagnostic mode.

  • Verizon MBN file (mcfg_sw.mbn)

The carrier config file you’ll load into the phone.

2. Hardware

  • A CAT S22 that is:
    • Running stock Android 11
  • A Windows PC
  • A USB-C cable (make sure it’s data-capable, not just for charging)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Install Qualcomm USB Drivers

  1. Download the Qualcomm drivers from a trusted source or this XDA thread.
  2. Unzip the file and run setup.exe.
  3. Reboot your computer after installation.

Step 2: Install QPST

  1. Download QPST v2.7.496.1 from a trusted Qualcomm tools mirror (just search: QPST 2.7.496.1 download).
  2. Run the installer and follow the prompts.
  3. After installation, verify that the following apps are installed:
    • QPSTConfig.exe
    • PDC.exe

These will be located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Qualcomm\QPST\bin.

Step 3: Enable DIAG Mode on the Phone

  1. Open the Phone app on your phone.
  2. Dial: ##3424#
  3. Wait a moment – a screen called DiagView should open.
    • If it doesn’t, wait 30 seconds and try again.
  4. Tap “Open Port”.
  5. Now plug your phone into your PC using the USB-C cable.

Step 4: Confirm Phone is Detected

  1. On your PC, open Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Modems section.
  3. Look for something like:
    Qualcomm HS-USB Modem xxxx

If you don’t see it, the drivers might not be installed correctly.

Step 5: Add Phone to QPST

  1. Open QPSTConfig.exe.
  2. Go to the Ports tab.
  3. Your phone should appear automatically.
    • If not, click “Add New Port” and find the port with “USB” in the name.

Step 6: Load the Verizon MBN in PDC

  1. Open PDC.exe from the same QPST folder.
  2. In the Devices dropdown, select your Qualcomm device.
    • It may freeze briefly – just wait.
  3. Click Load.
  4. Select the mcfg_sw.mbn file you downloaded earlier.
    • Wait again for it to load.

Step 7: Activate the CDMAless-Verizon Profile

  1. After loading, a new entry should appear named CDMAless-Verizon.
  2. Right-click it and select:
    • SetSelectedConfigSub0
  3. Wait for it to say pending under Sub0.
  4. Now click the Activate button.

If you get an error – ignore it.
Just reselect your device from the dropdown and check again.
It should now say Active under Sub0 for CDMAless-Verizon.

Step 8: Reboot the Phone

Once the profile is active, reboot your CAT S22. You should now have working VoLTE on Verizon! :raised_hands:

Don’t forget to go back into DiagView and close the diagnostic port when done.

Optional Fixes & Notes

Inconsistent Network? Try This:

  1. Dial *#*#4636#*#* on your phone.
  2. Tap Phone Information.
  3. Scroll to Set Preferred Network Type.
  4. Change it to: LTE only
  5. Turn on Airplane Mode for a few seconds, then turn it off.
  6. Reboot if needed.

VoLTE Works but SMS Doesn’t?

Call Verizon and ask them to set your line as “CDMAless”.

This is a backend change they need to make on your account.
