Kitty - Small Cat Super, Debloated with Android Auto

Here is the kitty2.img for the Cat S22 Flip (password to unzip is kitty). Make sure you have the kitty2 version, the first one won’t work with Android Auto!

All bloat was removed, now it just has the important GSF apps and basic apps

Basic apps: Calculator, Camera, Clock, Contacts, Files, FM Radio, Gallery, Maps, Messages, Phone and Play Store

Voice Access: It has Voice Access that you can turn on from Settings > Accessibility (I made it not show up in apps so it shouldn’t clutter the screen). The Side button (PTT) was remapped to work with Voice Access (but won’t work for PTT).

Android Auto: Android Auto requires Google Search (which isn’t officially supported on android go) so I used a fake version of it in the ROM. To allow more apps to show up on Android Auto, go to Settings > Connected Devices > Connection Preferences > Android Auto. then scroll down and tap Version ten times to enable Developer Settings. Open Developer Settings by tapping the 3 dots in the top right corner and check off Unknown Sources.

Keyboards: There Are 4 Keyboards, Kika, Gboard, Aosp (with swype), Tt9. All of them are hidden from the app drawer and can be accessed by going to Settings > System > Languages & Input > On Screen Keyboard.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: Got rid of that stupid boot animation with the weirdly grinning construction workers, like why are they smiling? Its hard work! Why would you be randomly smiling a huge smile while driving a tractor? Anyway, its changed.

Make sure to update to v30 and sign out of google accounts before flashing the rom

Unlocking the Bootloader

  1. Go to Settings > About Phone and tap Build Number 7 times to become a developer
  2. Go to Settings > System > Developer Options and select OEM unlocking

Flashing the Files
You may need to install fastboot drivers and fastbootd drivers if your computer doesn’t recognize your device

  1. Download and unzip ADB platform tools and download vbmeta.img and place it and the kitty2.img in the platform tools folder (make sure you have the kitty2 version)
  2. Turn your phone off, then turn it on while pressing volume down, it should say Fastboot Mode on top and Device State - Unlocked on bottom, if it says Device State - Locked Type fastboot flashing unlock into the command prompt and hit enter.
  3. Plug your phone into your computer and open a command prompt window in the platform tools folder
  4. In the command prompt type: fastboot flash --disable-verity --disable-verification vbmeta vbmetav30.img and hit enter then type fastboot reboot fastboot and hit enter
  5. Once in fastbootd mode type fastboot flash super kitty2.img and hit enter.
  6. [Optional] Select Enter Recovery and Wipe cache and Wipe Data/Factory Reset.

Getting It Running:

  1. Update Android Auto from the play store.
  2. Go to Settings > Apps > See All Apps > Android Auto > Permissions and Allow all Permissions.
  3. [If you didn’t factory reset] Go to Settings > Apps > Advanced > Special App Access > Notification Access and allow Android Auto.

If I have eGate on my cat how would this play out?

You should probably remove it first

v30 has bluetooth problems…

And then my old license will work?

why fastbootd and not fastboot in step 5

goes faster

If anyone tests this please leave feedback.
I am interested in knowing if there are any cons in this or it’s only pros.

This is what I get when trying to unzip the super:

Use WinRAR

there is an error in android auto, I will be uploading a fixed version of the rom in a few
update: it’s fixed, make sure you have the kitty2.img

What’s that?

A popular program used for archive files.

I can’t seem to find this option on my Cat (I have eGate). Where would I find which version I am on?

Setting > About Phone

Is there any way around this if I want to install the Google app ?

This?

Is this the right version to be on?

if you have root you can remove the fake google app

scroll to the bottom and send a screenshot
