Kyocera Phones Thread

And newer.
E4811, Extreme+, whatever confusing naming scheme they decide to go with that day…

Your saying the only phone that can’t download unmodified apps is the E4610?

The only Kyocera phones that cannot install unmodified appps are the S2720 (Cadence) and the DuraXV E-4610. Correct

Yes having that issue with the E4610
wont connect to the network with USMobile

Which network on US mobile?

After spending a while on the phone with US Mobile they decided that the problem was with the phone and we had to replace the phone.

So did that help with another of the same device? Are you using the verizon service with them? an unlocked device? Did you try with another working SIM card on Verizon or TracFone to see if the device actually works?

I would assume you’re using the Verizon service of US Mobile and using an unlocked phone? And like mentioned above assuming you tested with a working SIM card from a different carrier that actually works?

Just to mention the phone is a Verizon phone so it wouldn’t have to be unlocked to use with US Mobile Verizon towers.

If it was locked you would be prompted to enter an unlock code. With the S2720 If its not the s2720PP version its usally locked unless somone had it unlocked.

But us mobile offers service on T-Mobile as well as Verizon.

S2720 Cadence

E4610 DuraXV

E4810 DuraXV Extreme (Not available from Kyocera but still supported)
This is Verizon locked and can be bought directly from Verizon.

E4811 DuraXV Extreme+ (Available from Kyocera)
This is Verizon locked and can be bought directly from Verizon.

E4830 DuraXE Epic (Not available from Kyocera but still supported)
This is locked to AT&T. It seems that you can buy one that is locked to FirstNet (I think their AT&T based.

E4831 DuraXA Equip (Available from Kyocera)
This model can be bought from Kyocera unlocked or from US Cellular. Please note that according to this even the unlocked version does not work with verizon/visible or outside the US.

Apparently all the models besides the Cadence can install apk’s without modifying first (the E4610 has some limitations though. See this).

If I missed anything or you have something to add please let me know.

Wait, what? That’s awful. I need one of these Kyoceras that supports GSM, since my E4810 and E4830 do not. I ordered the E4710 and E4710T, and was shocked to find that they do not allow any apps to be installed, because they have administrative rules blocking apk installations, even when I try via adb. I just returned them both and ordered the E4610, and I am very much counting on being able to install Spotify, WhatsApp, and Waze at bare minimum. Are you saying the E4610 will have the same administrative block preventing me from installing anything, just like the E4710?

Yes. But the E4610 is a much better phone than any of the other ones out there. Texting is EPIC on it because it has Message Plus. It’s much better then what the other ones come with.

That sounds great but it won’t do me any good without the ability to install apps

the E4610 along with the previos ones you bought will not a support app installation unless the app is modifies you could download any app from apps4flip. The e4610 mms will not work with GSM try getting the dura XE epic apps do not have to be modified to be installed and works great with GSM but not as good texting

which service are you using

And att too

If you say so, I guess they offer for all three carriers.

Yes a few months ago they added AT&T.

The E4610, Kyocera DuraXV LTE, will absolutely allow the installation of any APK - as long as it is built for armeabi-v7a architecture and can run on Android 7.1.1. There is no need for modified apps. I recently got one and have been able to fully modify it, similarly to the E4810 DuraXV Extreme. I recorded a video tutorial, only to find that the audio is completely messed up - getting way louder and then way quieter randomly. So, it will be a while before I can post the video, as I will first need to re-record the audio.

Also, the E4610 absolutely has GSM… that’s exactly why I got it. I need it to work in Europe, but my E4810 only supports UMTS and LTE, no GSM. GSM = 2G, btw. AT&T no longer has GSM running - only LTE and NR (5G)… but yes you are correct that the E4610 is not usable for AT&T, outside of just using LTE data. It only supports VoLTE on Verizon.
