Messaging App to Work With D-pad

Its fast? Is the one from a4f?

It could be I don’t remember

There was one modifeid on the apps4flip version. I think it crashes when trying to select connect to PC and I think it was from the days before RCS.

I understand it will need a lot of work but I just wanted to put it out there.

Its also very hard to modify any new google apps

I think it would be worth doing. It would be superb to have these features on our flip phones.

Maybe I should start a new topic, but what are your thoughts on trying to mod the Google messages versus another open source app such as Simple SMS Messenger I mentioned above?
I expect that RCS will slowly make its way into other android apps, and then appear on something found on Github eventually.
We could possibly fork the app, than first of all make all event handlers, button handlers compatible with as many flip phones as possible.

After someone smarter than me does the RCS legwork, we can merge that with ours.

Sounds like a great idea but the issue with most of the open source apps don’t have a nice UI and user friendly one… We would need to fix that too

And don’t work the dpad and need play services to run like rcs on tcl flip 2

That’s the reason I keep bringing up the SMS Messenger. I installed it, and it is fairly nice looking UI. Just doesnt work real well with my dpad, I have to use a mouse and that is unhandy for something I use commonly like a messaging app.

Most FOSS desktop apps don’t have a nice UI. FOSS Android apps, on the other hand, usually have just as good of a UI as any other app.
Check out Fossifys messaging app, check out the apps on F-droid.

Checked it out already

Most proprietary Gallery apps out there are takeoffs of Fossify’s Gallery app.

Here we go, my fine people:
messages-8-prepaid-release.apk (7.5 MB)
This is the Fossify Messaging app, modified to work with dpad. I haven’t tested it much, so let me know if there are any problems.

This is the prepaid release, so it has all the features unlocked that their normal build tells you to pay them for.

Will this work on the LG Exalt which runs android 6 and needs some modding done for it to download?

Actually, it will need some more work, which I don’t have time to do today. Maybe some other day. The main message view works great on dpad, but I need to work on some of the other screens.

Here’s my feedback from using it on the exalt:
On the main screen you can’t select “New Conversation” unless you scroll all the wat to the bottom of the list.

When viewing a message you can’t select the options on top of the screen (to ppress call, add to contacts…) unless you use the mouse.

It doesn’t fit my screen

Would you be able to make the ‘next sms by handcend’ app work with the dpad because it will solve this problem because you could spoof the mms profile which would be amazing for all verizon users?
