I believe the apps4flip ROM would work for your software, though someone should update the message and Waze. I don’t have time right now. But it doesn’t take too long through Android utility without unpacking.

Did you even bother to ask him? He put in a ton of work and released it for free. That alone deserves respect. How would you feel if someone took something you built, reverse-engineered it, and reposted it under their own name like it was theirs? Even if you give him credit, it doesn’t change the fact that he likely spent weeks or months creating it. You don’t know how long it took, and really, it doesn’t matter—what matters is that it’s his work. He didn’t have to share it, but he did, and for free. The bare minimum you can do is ask if you could reverse-engineering it.
Remember before you do anything picture how you would feel in their shoes!!!

He should be happy that more people would gain from his work! That was why he did it. It not like I’m changing stuff just fixing 2 bugs. Making his work go further!

You’re reverse-engineering his work, and most people don’t appreciate that—just ask him first. Maybe he wouldn’t care probably wouldn’t , but maybe he doesn’t want you digging through everything he added, like his custom apps and scripts. Either way, it’s basic courtesy to ask before touching someone else’s work

He’s not exactly selling the free rooms he released. He made much better ones since then.
I personally think if you want to swap the Waze version from his ROM, and change nothing else, then I don’t see an issue if you would send it to somebody privately. I think he would agree.
Is it lifnim mishuras hadin and perhaps the right thing to go and ask him? Yes.
For sure you would need to ask him if you’re sending it publicly.
