Please help... bricked f21

OK, I’m on 6.1.3 and i followed the guide Guide: Unlock More Features on Your Qin F21 Pro and replaced the files there, and when I reboot it boot to a black screen saying system files corrupted and I have to factory reset

So I asked Gemini (obv jtech is my first choice  just didn’t have access) and it said Its prob BC of permissions and I can fix with twrp. So I got the boot.IMG from 1.1.1 and booted into twrp and chmod 644 system_root/system/system_ext/priv-app/MtkSettings2/MtkSettings2.apk (I renamed the apk from the guide that BC that’s what its named in 6.1.3) and the rest of the files and reboot, and now it just boots the logo a few times and ends up back in twrp.

If anyone can advise would really appreciate

Tbh I really don’t know twrp. Never used it. But the symptoms you’re describing about your phone sound like verify issues. Probably just have to flash vbmeta (possibly also for vendor system vbmeta) to get it working. (It’s an Android security feature that will fail to boot if system partition was tampered with). There are guides on the forum about it

@Nooch am I right?

This may be helpful

It may work to flash a empty vbmeta
Best would be to find the stock files that were there originally and put them back

Correct me if I’m wrong but if I didnt have an empty vbmeta it also would have not boot b4? Also when you have a vbmeta error, its a message that shows on top of the boot logo and it says boot state red no? This is a black bootloader-style screen that says system files corrupted and gives me 2 options, try again or factory data reset

Also I think 6.1.3 has already modified those apk’s or at least some of them, and I don’t have those modified versions (@ars18?)

You could backup userdata with mtkclient and reflash.

How would that help??

I think Qin boot is modified to not show that message

Same way its modified to not show an unlocked boot loader issue, that coverup is prob included

True didn’t chap you could just reset.
Basically your device needs a reset but you still need the data?

I replaced the files. On reboot, it says that system files are corrupted and I need to factory reset. I flashed a twrp boot image, and now it doesn’t even boot to that message, just straight to twrp.

I’m not sure it needs a factory reset, its just those files. So I tried fixing perms. It boots straight to twrp.

I wanna try replacing the files with the default 6.1.3 ones, but I don’t have them. If anyone with 6.1.3 can back them up, or if @ars18 has them that would be gr8

Also would be gr8 if someone can post the 6.1.3 boot image, forgot to back up mine b4 I flashed twrp

But yes I would like to keep the data…

Can you explain what you mean

Everything is in the download linked in the first 6.1.3 post.

Not the apks…If i flash entire system image I have to factory reset…

Extract the system img and take what you need

Why?

Don’t have access to a laptop… borrowing for minimal time so if anyone has the apks themselves would be appreciated…

Don’t you have to factory reset to flash system? If not I can just flash system and all will be good no?

If you just flash system you should be fine.

Or you can use this to unpack (don’t repack with it).

Sorry if being repetitive but just wanna confirm b4 i do smth stupid…

you’re saying if I flash system and boot, my phone will be the same it was b4 I messed with the system apks?

I’ve done that before and all was fine if I flashed same ROM

Am I taking responsibility for your data? No. Would I do this myself? Yes.

Thanks, will try later today or motzei shabbos iyh

If I backup the system, will it mean anything? Or do I have to backup user data etc as well…
