A lot of times I want to write something but I feel that it does not deserve it’s own thread, so I am opening this.
This should be used for anything that you want to say that does not fit into it’s own category, and can be anything tech related. I think that this will make a lot of other threads less cluttered, and conversations from other threads can be moved here if needed.

In Windows if you create a new user through the settings app then you need to put the password twice, fill in 3 recovery questions and a hint. If you do it through lusrmgr.msc (windows pro only) then you just need to enter the password twice and no hint or security questions.
If you do it thru command prompt (net user username password /add) then you only need to type it once, but drawback is that you need to type another command to make the user admin (net localgroup administrators user /add). But this makes you look cool…

If you do it through Control Panel you dont need to do hints if I remember correctly.
Windows 11 control panel new user opens settings app.
I think once you create User in Settings you can add password with Control Panel, but now I am just grasping at straws…
You are correct, but it does require a hint, also if done in settings app you need to go thru them trying to make a Microsoft account.
Turn off wifi and select Local Account

Even on Wi-Fi ,you can select that you do not have the sign in info, and then create an account.
The quickest way is probably through command prompt, and that is what I use when I create new accounts for people.

Btw, the get help troubleshooter does resolve a lot of issues.
It can restart adapters and more, it also took over the Microsoft SARA tool.
Interesting ticket that we had today.
User says that downloads in Gmail are not working. He clicks the download button and it does not download. First we refresh, reset permissions and check for updates.
Then I decided to check if just on Gmail or on other tabs as well so I see that the issue is in other tabs as well. Check in ms edge and when downloading it opens file explorer and freezes.
Next logical step is checking file explorer itself, I opened it and it freezes. I restart through task manager and get the same issue. So I removedapped drive to the server and tested again and still no progress. I open disk management and it also freezes, so I opened device manager and under disk drives I see another drive that did not show in file explorer.
So I ask him about it and he says that it is a external hard drive. I ask him to unplug it and right away all issues vanished.
I did a sfc and dism scan for good measure, scheduled a reboot for tonight and the customer was good to go.
Forgot to say that this happened on a span of 5 minutes.
Next I got an emergency call from a new client that left another MSP and he says that he is not getting emails and none of his employees can log in. Issue was that it was still under pax8 from other MSP and was never fully removed so when the other MSP disabled the licenses it stopped working. Had to quickly set up a new billing profile and get the licenses ASAP for them.
BTW this was after the other MSP charged them 2.5k off boarding fee.
Is this type of content interesting at all?

That’s the most obvious, simplest, quick-fix.
