Reviewing The MindFull and MindSet phone

The Mind Phone: A Confusing Concept?

So, there’s this phone out there called the Mind Phone… yeah. And it comes in two versions:

  • Mindfull – Talk & Text
  • Mindset – Talk Only

Oddly enough, the “Talk Only” version costs $280, while the one with more functionality (talk, text, and even a camera) is only $200. Why?

This phone has been around for three years, yet it never really hit the market. Because who the Kishkeh wants a huge smartphone-sized, talk-only phone?! Why was this even created?

And since when do people need talk, text, and dual camera lenses—but not Samsung or Apple quality ones?

That’s the problem.

The phones themselves? Fast, good touch response, and pretty much bug-free at this point. But…

  • Why so big??
  • Why no camera on the “Talk Only” version, yet it has a huge touchscreen?!
  • Why such a tiny T9 button area???

Now, no offense to the guy who made this—I actually indirectly know him. He’s an ehrlicher guy. But, sir… you’re not a tech enthusiast, not an Apps4Flip guy, not a JTechForums bucher/yingerman, not a Qin geek, not a TCL geek, etc. etc.

Please, don’t make phones. I mean, you can do whatever you want, but expect failure.

Anyway, let’s hope he doesn’t sue us for defamation. But hey—if it’s true, I’m just a reviewer…

That’s my take. Disagree? Write below—let’s argue!

I disagree that thats the reason.
I would say that that is one of two reasons.
The other one is that it doesn’t have Waze.
Take care of either, and it would sell.

(Whoever wants talk only or talk and text doesn’t want a smartphone shaped and sized phone, and whoever is okay with its form wants Waze.)

Those credentials are irrelevant.

All you need is to be in touch with what
people want, and how much they’d be willing to pay for it.

Being an “Apps4Flip/Jtech Forums guy” would probably be helpful, to get a sense of what people want, and to get feedback.

But thats only for someone who’s open to hearing feedback.

Yup.
Couldn’t have said that better.

In essence I agree, but lets take this a bit slower. The goal (my assumption) was to make a real kosher phone, without Waze and any additional apps.

There does exist a market where a genuine Kosher phone with just calling & texting is wanted and would sell. Like the Kyocera & Exalt did for many years. But here is what happened, once those became scarce, other phones started taking their place. Phones with more features. In essence people were happy with the basic functions of a real basic phone, but any new phones that started coming into the market offered more… not because people needed it, but because they could. All 4g phones are now based on android so putting aside the kashrus perspective, its a no-brainer to include more… Now we are at a point at which we expect a phone, even a kosher phone to have waze.

So what we needed was just a good talk and text phone, but what we got is mini-smartphones. And people loved it (of course).

The Mind phone seemed like it wants to be one of those “great at talk & text and nothing else” type of phones. And giving poeple what they think they want, instead of what they actually want. Its really hard to sell a phone now thats not touch screen, so giving a nice large touchscreen is a great selling point, except thats not what people really need because it doenst have much apps that take advantage of it, so it just looks nice but useless. Combine that with no d-pad navigation and you just get a mish-mash of different ideas in one really nice looking product but falling into a really slim category of people.

Sorry about the rant, and some non-sensical ideas and a lot of very subjective ideas, but I think you get my gist… I would’ve loved to write this up a bit nicer and clearer, but I don’t have the time, And I can’t risk ChatGPT spoiling my ideas…

I spoke to someone who makes the Mind Phone or is involved with it, and it turns out that the reason that there’s no Waze is because of a bug in the rom that prevents apps from accessing the GPS.
They’re working on fixing it, and will definitely have it fixed before they release the next Mind Phone.
