I am using the 1.1.1 ROM and this issue happens with Verizon
When someone texts me a picture, it makes a chat with just me and him to display it.
There is a similar issue in group chat texts.
Any way to fix it?
I don’t want to switch the ROM, I like the 1.1.1 ROM.
I’m actively working on a fix for the voice note issue on the Verizon network. I don’t know if it has anything to do
The problem with voice messages is that it gets compressed and shortened I think.
It’s probably a seperate issue…
I know there is a custom ROM that fixes all these issues but it isn’t public.

Isn’t this Verizon problem with all rooted devices? I think it has something to do with Verizon not recognizing the phone as a official secure device
I’m saying I use a jelly star phone from unihertz and I have Verizon and on Google messages I cannot receive pictures and get any group text messages at all
meaning only SMS works but no MMS
And there are many conversations about this on Reddit and there doesn’t seem to be any solution to my knowledge
No, rooted or not rooted, all qins have these issues.
It’s verizon network protocall issue with unrecognized mms profiles.
(No issues with Verizon message+ if used as a system app, and yes it can still work even though it’s been discontinued.)
You have a message plus that works that you could send an APK file?
You can use a version from like a year ago - it’ll work
If your rooted the newer versions can also work.
But remember, make sure to systemize it, if it’s not a system app on the qin messages won’t be received when the app is closed.

Test it out, close message plus on your phone, send a msg from a different phone to your phone, see if it goes through.
Or send a message to your phone while it’s powered off, see if it’s received when your phone is back on.
It’s very interesting Yes I just downloaded a message plus an old version and it works with pictures it seems
But for some reason I just checked somebody that uses the TIQ phone which is a rooted device and somehow Google messages is working 100% fine with pictures
Not sure if I am following this entire thread clearly, but afaik you can just use a different mms app like Textra or Pulse and it will work fine…

Best app I found for this is Handcent Next SMS. UI is a bit clunky though.
It has an option in MMS network settings, to set a custom user agent. Solves all the issues.

Other apps may have less issues, but they all have issues to some degree. Either no mms, or no audio/video. Another issue some apps have is in group chats, when you text you receive your own texts back.
I’m using the Jelly Star on Verizon network directly, and I have no issues receiving any MMS on any App including Google messages.
Maybe you have to change IMEI that works on Verizon and make sure your network mode is set LTE/GSM/UMTS.
To change the IMEI open dialer and dial ##08##
That is inaccurate, most mms apps have this issue, besides message+ (and handcent sms if the mms profile is spoofed in handcent sms settings)
