Let's Talk Tariffs

Let’s talk tariffs for a second

Please note: I changed the numbers in this document to match $100 per phone just for easy calculations, however the percentages were all kept the same, keeping everything perfectly authentic.

In this case I am buying 4 Qin F21 Pros that are valued at $100 each were purchased.
As you can see in the DHL document at the end of this thread, the following tariffs were charged (of the total amount $400):

  • 25% Default Tariff - Applies to ALL Packages - This was usually avoided on packages under $800, but no longer gets avoided
  • 125% Trump Tariff that took effect in April
  • 20% Additional Tariff (I think its a Trump addon)

So now doing the math on a $400 package, 170% tariff equals $680 in tariffs.
But it doesn’t stop there. They charge sales tax and regulatory charges.
The total comes out to $863.10, more than 215% of the package’s value!
That. Is. Crazy!!!

Pretty sure on smartphones theres no additional tarriff, besides the 25% and a baseline 20% on everything from china

So those 2 tariffs you outlined were identified on this document. Just theres the extra 125%. I think they classify bar phones as non smartphones which is why this was not exempt from the 125%

Technically its any phone with a camera (saw that somewhere else, not in this pic)

So why was this not classified as that?

I dont know then, it should be excluded from the extra 125%

Will DDP bypass the tariffs?

It means that all costs are on the seller, so it should. Just DDP will probably be a lot more expensive.

What a beautiful post. Well written, concise, and enlightening!

The $863 is besides the cost of the phones!? Nuts

I hope your business does okay.
